Sales and Account Development – CalTopo Teams
Update November 18: We have had an amazing response with a slew of incredible people applying for this position! It’s going to be a really difficult decision to choose only one. At this time, we need to stop accepting new applications. Thank you all for your interest and support!
We’re hiring for help with team account sales!
About CalTopo
CalTopo helps people prepare for and respond to the challenges of working in the field. Our CalTopo Teams platform supports planning, coordination, and documentation for map-based collaboration on incidents ranging from law enforcement operations to public safety and resource management. We’re a small, distributed team focused on building practical, reliable tools that make fieldwork safer and more effective.
As adoption of CalTopo Teams has continued to grow, we’ve reached the point of needing to increase our team account sales capacity. We’re looking for someone to expand and support CalTopo’s growing team account sales. While a significant part of the job will be talking directly with potential team customers, you’ll also work on proactive marketing – from building case studies to identifying new markets – and as a small company, pitch in elsewhere as needed.
What we’re looking for:
Candidates should have relevant customer-facing experience in roles such as sales, support, or account management.
We’re particularly interested in someone who can bring one of the following two skill sets to the table:
- Business development and operations. Someone with the background to help us navigate our increasing web of compliance concerns, develop a strategy for approaching larger government organizations, identify functionality needed to appeal to new industries, and work with partner organizations on data licensing and product integrations.
- Technical support. Someone who has the background to work with IT departments on technical vetting, integrate customer data, develop SQL queries for analytics, and research new datasets.
We would like you to be familiar with our platform, ideally including our team functionality. And while we’re open to someone residing anywhere in the US, it’s a plus if you’re a resident of California, Washington or Colorado (states where we already have a business presence), and an even bigger plus if you’re able to meet in person semi-regularly in Truckee, CA.
Because CalTopo’s database contains sensitive information belonging to government customers, candidates must be able to pass a background check.
Benefits:
- Flexible work hours
- 7 weeks of PTO (CalTopo doesn’t have paid holidays, so this is the equivalent of 5 weeks PTO + 10 holidays, but more flexible)
- Health insurance covered at 90% for you and 80% for dependents
- Retirement contribution
- Salary range is hard to meaningfully write for this one as we are open to a variety of experience levels, but we’re anticipating $80k-$120k for someone with low to mid levels of experience. However, we can go higher for someone with significant business or SAAS sales experience, so don’t let that box in your expectations.
To apply:
Please reach out to Julie Vargo at jvargo@caltopo.com. We’re hoping to hire for this position before the end of the year, but holidays are tricky schedule wise and we’re willing to wait for the right candidate. We’ll update this posting when the position has been filled.

I am very interested and have made many recommendations to those I search with.
Good luck! I know you will be a great addition.
I am very interested in this position. How can we move forward!
